231 Outfitters & The River at Traverse City are kicking off their 6th year at Clinch Park along the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay! In the beginning, we were renting kayaks and tubes out of a small shack in the area that formerly houses the Clinch Park Zoo with a few staff members and limited offerings.
We were excited in 2012, when the City of Traverse City began renovating Clinch Park and the waterfront. The update includes creating a small climbing playground, the William G. Milliken Waterscape, café and beach side bathrooms with changing facilities. We were grateful to continue offering summer fun at Clinch Park through our relationship with the City.
While we are still renting out of a small shack on the beach (which we love), we offer a wider selection of rental equipment including kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards and water rafts. We strive to be a one stop destination for the ultimate people powered outdoor adventures, using some of the top outdoor equipment providers in the country including Jackson Kayaks, Michael Dolsey SUPs, Starboard SUPs and Fuji Bikes.
With the renovations at Clinch Park we were able to open The Rivertown Café in July of 2013, offering an delicious selection of local foods. We know it takes local relationships to make a business thrive so we strive to use as many local vendors as possible including Maxbauers Market, Popkies Popcorn, Cherry Republic and Great Lakes Potato Chips, just to name a few of the fantastic local venders we have partnered with. We are proud to have a menu that offers the unexpected in a beach side café with unique items like our lamb burgers, chipotle veggie burgers, and Memphis style bbq pulled pork. Even if you don’t come down for a day at the beach, you will want to enjoy an outdoor lunch with us along the bay.
Lets get outdoors and make some memories!
