BOARDMAN RIVER EXPERIENCE
FOR EXPERIENCED PADDLERS ONLY!!!
13 – 17 yr olds must be accompanied by an adult.
Experience the Boardman River for the first time in 100 years. This paddle will take you through the old Sabin Dam site which now includes two light rapids, followed immediately by a slow water paddle through a spectacular cedar forest bursting with wildlife. Paddling experience is necessary for this fun and lively paddle. This 90 minute experience begins at Jack’s Landing within the Natural Education Reserve. As with all our rapids experiences, you may get soaked… so dress appropriately.

NOTE: Helmets and life jackets are required (and provided).
This trip ends at Medalie Park, 2.5 miles from the starting point at Jack’s Landing. We will drop you off at the beginning of the trip and you will end at the spot where you left your car
BOARDMAN LAKE EXPERIENCE
Perfect paddle for experiencing northern Michigan’s beautiful lakes and rivers right in the heart of Traverse City, whether it is just an hour or a full day. The 300-acre Boardman Lake is teeming with wildlife, including beaver, muskrat, swans, geese, mallards, buffleheads, gulls, terns, and mergansers. The endangered loon and bald eagle make frequent appearances as well. This paddle begins at Medalie Park and can end in the West Bay and is accessible to all ages and abilities.

About the Boardman (A River Reborn)
The Boardman river exist thanks to a many-decades-long, multi-million dollar effort to restore the Boardman River to its ancestral state. This was done by removing three hydroelectric dams (Brown Bridge, Boardman, and Sabin). We must all honor this herculean collaboration by doing our part to care for and support the long-term health of this precious natural resource.
